Hobart College first-year David Stevens was named the ECAC West Men’s Hockey Rookie of the Week today, for his performance in the Statesmen’s contest vs. 13th-ranked Manhattanville on Saturday.

Stevens netted his first collegiate goal in Hobart’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Valiants. In the 14th minute of the second period, he tallied to give the Statesmen a 2-0 lead. A forward, Stevens has played in 15 of a possible 20 games this season.

First-year goalie Nick Broadwater earned a spot on the ECAC West’s Weekly Honor Roll as well. He recorded 36 saves with a .923 save percentage and a 2.96 goals against average against Manhattanville. Broadwater leads the conference in save percentage (.926) and ranks second in goals against average (2.38).

The Statesmen (9-9-2, 5-4-1) will travel to sixth-ranked Elmira (16-3-1) for an ECAC West contest on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. The Soaring Eagles top the league standings with a 10-0-0 mark. The two teams have met twice already this winter, with Elmira prevailing both times.
