ANNVILLE, Pa.—The Hobart College hockey team defeated Lebanon Valley 6-4 in ECAC West action tonight at Hershey Park Arena, improving to 12-9-2 overall and 8-4-1 in the conference. The Statesmen scored three unanswered goals in the first period and never looked back.

Senior Bobby Cahill and sophomore Gregory Ciciola paced Hobart with a goal and an assist each, while senior Drew Wadsworth added two assists.

Six minutes, 21 seconds into the contest, Ciciola found Moriarty for the first goal of the game. Less than three minutes later, Ciciola lit the lamp on an assist from Wadsworth to put the Statesmen up 2-0. First-year Frank Salituro made it a 3-0 lead in the 12th minute with his second goal of the year.

Senior Blake Bonham increased Hobart’s lead just 2:34 into the second period, with junior Tommy Capalbo and first-year Ryan Corcoran assisting, and junior Matthew Wallace made it a 5-0 advantage with his ECAC West-high fourth short-handed goal of the season in the fifth minute.

Matthew Kisiday scored back-to-back goals to put the Flying Dutchmen (0-24-0, 0-14-0) on the board in the 10th and 15th minutes. The Statesmen took a 5-2 lead into the final break.

In the ninth minute of the third period, first-year David Stevens found Cahill for another short-handed tally, and Hobart’s final score of the night. Lebanon Valley went on to net two more, thanks to Kyle Stewardson and George Nicholes, but Hobart held on for the 6-4 win.

First-year Statesmen Martin Ausserhofer collected 30 saves in goal, en route to his third win of the winter, while Daniel Rameriz Bao stopped 22 shots in net for the Flying Dutchmen.

Lebanon Valley held a 34-28 edge in shots, and converted 1-of-4 power play chances. Hobart was 0-for-1 on the power play.

The Statesmen will be back on the ice on Feb. 19, when they host ECAC West foe Utica in The Cooler at 7 p.m.

Gibbons averaged a team-high 18.5 ppg and 5.5 rpg in a 1-1 week for the Statesmen. He scored 22 points on 10-of-12 shooting, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two steals at RPI. The following afternoon, Gibbons had 15 points and seven rebounds at Skidmore. For the week, he shot 64 percent from the floor and made all five of his free throw attempts.

Mitchell went 4-0 at the Smith Round Robin over the weekend. Playing in the No. 7 and No. 8 spots in the order, she posted 3-0 sweeps of her opposition against Smith (a 6-3 Heron win), Northeastern (W 8-1), and Wellesley (L, 3-6). Vassar's Katherine Cornish was the only player to take a game from Mitchell this weekend. After dropping the opening game 11-9, Mitchell bounced back with 11-7, 11-3, 11-4 wins to take the match 3-1. She has the team's best individual record this winter (7-5) and has won five straight matches.
