Hobart College senior forward Nick DeCroo recently signed a contract to play for the Quad City Mallards, an International Hockey League affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Philadelphia Flyers. DeCroo suited up last night, March 17, for his first game with the Mallards, and was on the ice for the team’s lone goal.

A captain of the 2009-10 Statesmen hockey team, DeCroo played in 10 games this winter after being sidelined by an injury. In that time, he notched four goals and two assists, raising his three-year career totals at Hobart to 39 goals and 18 helpers in 67 games.

In 2007-08, DeCroo transferred to Hobart from Division I Bentley (22 GP, 2g, 3a), and immediately became a key member of the Statesmen offense. He led the team in goals (15) and ranked third in points (22) as a sophomore, and led the team in both goals (20) and points (29) as a junior, earning All-ECAC West first team honors in 2008-09.

DeCroo finished his career first on Hobart’s all-time records list for short-handed goals (8), and twice tied the standard for goals in a game (3). He also shares the top spot for short-handed goals in a season (4), and ranks ninth in both goals (20) and power-play goals (7) in a season.

DeCroo helped the Statesmen to a 52-25-7 record and two NCAA Division III Tournament appearances, including the 2008-09 national semifinals.
